Psychopaths only care about themselves. And because they lack empathy, they tend to emulate formulaic emotional responses. Often times they pick up social cues and display emotions in order to fit in. Killers such as William Holbert use Hollywood movies to convey how we expect them to feel.

Wild Bill used a quote from the movie Unforgiven to express his sadness for the crimes he committed.
